Namchi's Prabha Rai from Assangthang, Sikkim, has been honored with the Chiya Kavita Puraskar for her significant contributions to literature and education. This prestigious award was presented to her on the occasion of World Tea Day by the Chiya Kavita Group on May 22nd.

Prabha Rai has long been dedicated to the advancement of literature and education in her community. She has actively promoted a culture of reading among the people for many years. As part of her efforts to foster a love for reading among children, she established a library at her home in Dumi Gaon, Assangthang. Furthermore, she has been instrumental in the development of language, literature, arts, folk traditions, and the promotion of reading habits through the DG Reading Room Resource and Education Foundation, which she established in 2019.
